Breaking Free from Low Mood and Depression

Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally, to things as they are.

Breaking Free from Low Mood and Depression is an eight-week face-to-face course for anyone who experiences low mood or has struggled with depression before.

Using a mindfulness-based approach, you'll learn tools and self-compassion techniques to work with difficult thoughts and feelings, manage low mood, and prevent depressive episodes. However, the course isn't suitable for those currently experiencing more severe depression, as mindfulness practice can be hard to sustain during an acute episode.

Throughout the course, you will learn a mindfulness 'ABC' model:

  • Awareness: Recognize and understand your feelings.
  • Be with difficulty: Accept and face challenges compassionately.
  • Choices: Develop skills to make healthier decisions every day.

Participants often say they feel more resilient, less overwhelmed by difficult emotions, and more at ease with themselves.

The course will give you:

  • 18 hours of face-to-face sessions with experienced Buddhist teachers.
  • Guidance to start and maintain a meditation practice that supports emotional well-being.
  • Weekly course summaries, resource links, and guided recorded meditations.
  • A toolkit of practical techniques to help break free from low mood.
  • Weekly small group check-ins in a supportive, compassionate environment.

We have helped thousands of people not just cope, but thrive. Here’s what some past participants have said:

I loved our weekly check-ins; sharing similar experiences made all the difference.
The teachers are knowledgeable and kind.
I really enjoyed the tools. The Three Minute Breathing Space: a game-changer.
